Black Ginseng

This is quality ginseng

What makes South Korean ginseng so special?

All our products - whether extract, capsule, powder or ginseng film - contain only premium quality, 6-year-old Korean ginseng. All our products are sourced from South Korea, where the best ginseng products in the world are made.

Extra high active ingredient content

All our products are made from 6 year old red or black ginseng, which provides an extremely high active ingredient content. Our products come exclusively from South Korea, where ginseng cultivation is regulated by the state and the plants cannot be harvested until they are 6 years old. After harvesting the 6-year-old ginseng, the ginseng is tested by the state and if it is of the right quality, it can only be used to make any product. For example, 1 kg of ginseng extract requires 7 kg of 6-year-old ginseng root. Since only the root harvested after 6 years of age provides the right concentration of ginsenosides, we only use it. We are proud of this, and the product description of our products states that the ginseng root used is 6 years old.

Why are years important? The difference between genuine and poor quality

Unfortunately, there are many ginseng products available in shops that only use 1-2 year old plants. The active ingredient content of these products is so low that they have virtually only a placebo effect.

The difference is visible to the eye:

  • Look at the dramatic development in our pictures: the difference between a 6-year-old ginseng root and a 1-2 year old one is huge
  • Our second picture, which I took in person at an exhibition in Jeon-ju, South Korea, shows the difference even more clearly: side by side, you can see 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 year old plants

GMP standard - Ginseng

While other countries like China or America use intensive, accelerated cultivation, we only use ginseng grown in the traditional Korean method for 6 years for our products.

All of our products are produced through a multi-controlled process:

  • From cultivation to harvesting and processing, every step is strictly monitored
  • From the production process to the harvesting process, everything is controlled from start to finish, from the harvesting process to the production process itself.
  • Continuous quality control: testing of active substances concentration and health values
  • Full compliance with EU quality requirements
  • Our products are sourced from reliable South Korean manufacturers with strict quality control systems

The quality difference in numbers: ✓ A 6-year-old ginseng root contains 35 times more active ingredients than a 2-year-old root

The right dosage of ginseng - The power of processing technology

The active ingredient content of ginseng depends not only on the age of the plant, but also on the processing technology. Different manufacturing processes create new, valuable active ingredients:

  1. Processing technology is key in two ways:
  • Formation of new active substances: for example, steaming black ginseng 9 times doubles the amount of the valuable Rg3 ginsenoside
  • Improved absorption: advanced technologies help to improve the utilization of active ingredients
  1. Generations of ginseng:
  • Black ginseng (3rd generation): 9-fold steaming, double Rg3 content
  • BTGin products (5th generation): patented technology, even higher Rg3 content and optimized absorption

Recommended daily dosage (during our trip in October 2024, the daily amount of ginsenoside recommended by Korean experts is 12mg ginsenoside/day, our observations in Europe show that this is much less. Let's not forget that in Korea this is part of a centuries-old culture):

  • Black ginseng extract: 1-3 grams per day (1 gr minimum 6mg ginsenoside)
  • BTGin Saponin Plus Ginseng Capsules - Extra Strong: 1-2 capsules per day
  • Enzymes red ginseng extract: 1-2 grams

Important to know! Absorption may vary from person to person. If you don't experience the expected effect with black ginseng extract (which is rare), it may be because your body is having a harder time processing this form. In this case, we suggest two excellent alternatives:

  1. [Enzymes Red Ginseng Extract >>] - Made with a special enzyme technology that significantly improves absorption
  2. [BTGin capsules >>] - The fermentation process aids the absorption of the active ingredients

A 6 year old plant contains many times the active ingredient of a 1-2 year old plant:

Why the best ginseng - active ingredient difference

Ginseng generations and ginseng active ingredients

To date, researchers have reported nearly 200 different types of ginsenosides (the active ingredient in ginseng root). One of these is Rg3, which can be considered a key ginsenoside because it can solve a number of problems when consumed in the right amounts. These include fatigue[ research>> ], cardiovascular problems [more info >>], blood pressure problems [more info >>], potency problems [research >>], blood sugar problems [research >>], memory problems [research >>], and many more.

  1. In South Korea, ginseng grown for 6 years is harvested and then dried. The dried 6 year old ginseng root (1st generation ginseng in terms of technological development) does not yet contain Rg3 ginsenoside.
  2. After steaming once, it turns red (2nd generation) and already contains Rg3 ginsenoside, which is how red ginseng is made.
  3. After steaming nine times, the black ginseng root (3rd generation) will have nearly double the amount of the active ingredient Rg3 ginsenoside than red ginseng.
  4. In order to allow the ginsenoside active ingredient to be even better absorbed by the human body, a fermentation process is used (4th generation). Fermented ginseng contains 2-8 times more Rg3 than regular red ginseng root (per gram).
  5. Enzymatic ginseng is 5th generation ginseng. The enzyme technology converts ginsenosides into specific ginsenosides, thus multiplying the Rg3 and K compound, allowing even faster and better results. (Research conducted between 2015 and 2020 has shown that K-compound is liver-protective, anti-inflammatory, anti-atherosclerosis, anti-diabetic, anti-cancer, neuroprotective, anti-ageing/skin-protective).

What to look out for when buying a product containing ginseng

  1. Where does ginseng extract or ginseng root come from? If the product does not indicate the origin of the ginseng, be careful! If it was made in South Korea, it will be on the box!
  2. How old is the ginseng plant used? If this information is not included in the product description, you can be sure that the quality is poor. If it is made in South Korea, you can be sure that the ginseng root used is 6 years old because it is regulated by the state.
  3. Does it say how much ginsenoside per gram of product? If it only says how much ginseng it contains, but not the active ingredient (ginsenoside or ginsenoside), consider it a frivolous offer. If it is labelled as saponin/ginsenoside, be careful there too, as the two are not the same. (Ginsenoside is the active ingredient, saponin is the absorption enhancer. The saponin content is a higher number than the ginsenoside content, which is why it is often labeled on lower quality products, confusing the two).
  4. How much does the product cost? If you find it particularly cheap, it has a low active ingredient content and therefore you can't really trust its effectiveness. If you don't know what counts as cheap or expensive, [check out our products >>] - will be perfect as a starting point.

Important warning! The leaflets and descriptions of ginseng products usually mainly state the weight of the product (e.g. capsule) in milligrams - this means how much ginseng powder is in one capsule. BUT! They do not describe how much active ingredient is in this ground ginseng powder. In addition, they are typically made from young ginseng, so their absorption and potency is negligible. Think about this before you buy!
