Herbs to improve memory
Ginseng, ginseng, ginseng, ginkgo or ginkgo... these words and herbs are often confused and their effects confused. Let's see how ginseng helps and how ginkgo biloba helps!
For thousands of years, ginseng has been a proven remedy in Asia for preventing disease and maintaining youth. Once known as the "root of life" or "plant of life", ginseng harmonises vegetative functions, activates the cerebral cortex and stabilises hormone balance. Although there are many varieties, Korea is considered the ancestral home of ginseng. Long-lasting effects can be achieved through a longer course of treatment, although beneficial effects can be felt within days. The use of ginseng is highly recommended in cases of fatigue, lack of concentration, memory problems, stress, insomnia, and for recovery from prolonged illness or surgery, for faster recovery, but above all to delay the ageing process and maintain youthfulness of body and mind.
Ginkgo biloba, also known as fern, is a popular ornamental tree known for its distinctive leaves, with many horticultural varieties. Its leaves, which can be picked from spring to autumn, are used for medicinal purposes. They are used to treat disorders of the blood supply to the brain, dizziness, tinnitus and hearing loss. They have beneficial effects on varicose veins and haemorrhoids, improve blood supply to the skin and muscles. In homeopathy, they are used to treat tonsillitis and headaches, i.e. a placebo effect can be induced by a preparation labelled ginkgo, which is otherwise without active ingredients. In Hungary it is typically available in capsule, tablet, ampoule or liquid form.
Both herbs can have a number of beneficial effects in restoring health, preventing and alleviating any unpleasant symptoms, and it is not for nothing that they are also known as memory-enhancing herbs. With this in mind, it is worth using ginseng and ginkgo biloba.
Which ginseng product should you choose?
If you find a ginseng product particularly cheap, it is low in active ingredients and therefore you cannot really trust its effectiveness. The information leaflet of products available in Hungary usually mainly states the weight of the product (e.g. capsule) in milligrams: this means how much ginseng powder is contained in one capsule. But it is not described how much active ingredient is in this ground ginseng powder. In addition, they are typically made from young ginseng, so their absorption and effect is negligible. Think about this before you take them off the shelf or order them online!
