Ginseng is grown in South Korea through a cooperative of 10 Korean farms.

The quality of the products is guaranteed:

  • the recommendation of the Korean GMP program and compliance with strict rules

The Korean GMP programme regulates the production of the crop and ensures product traceability. This guarantees a strong restriction on the use of pesticides (insecticides and bactericides) and fertilisers, as well as the quality of the crops.

The Premium Korean Ginseng products will stand the test of time, as the harvested plants can only be 6 year old specimens. Harvesting takes place in autumn (September, October). High quality ginseng can only be harvested every 8 years. In the 2 years in between, the soil is left fallow, which usually means growing rice on the land. High quality naturally comes at a higher price.

After harvesting, the ginseng root goes through the following processes:

  • washing
  • drying
  • steam treatment

The production method allows the ginseng composition to be modified and optimised. To obtain red ginseng, the plant needs to be steamed once, and to obtain black ginseng, nine times. Since ginseng extract has 6-7 times more active ingredients than the first generation powdered version (processing the same amount of the plant), it was clear to us that we wanted to make extracts.

Just to give you a sense of the large amount of plant processing involved, we can tell you that to produce 1 kg of premium quality Ginseng extract, 7 kg of 6-year-old ginseng root is needed. It is very important to note, however, that thanks to 4-5th generation manufacturing technologies, BTGin capsules, for example, can compete with extracts, and even Saponin Plus Ginseng capsules have significantly more active ingredients than black ginseng.

But to return to the most important property of ginseng, we need 6 years precisely because as the number of years passes, many times the amount of active ingredient is produced in the plant, and at 6 years it reaches a peak that is already of use to us in a meaningful way.
